The architecture is primarily focused on the interior, which houses a colossal number of Shiv Lingas.
Key Architectural Elements:One of the most fascinating aspects is the carving of several major Lingas, such as one featuring a main Linga surrounded by 68 smaller ones, and another with a carved beard and mustache surrounded by 71. The "Balibhadra Temple Caves" section contains abstract shapes like Wheel, Heart, and Circle. The main cave features sculptures of Goddess Parvati, Lord Vishnu, and the Sun God, each near a unique grouping of hundreds of miniature Lingas (e. g. , 972 Lingas representing 108 centers of the Goddess). The walls also display sculptures of Bhalchandra and Chhatrapati Shivaji.
Dimension:The temple plan is relatively compact, built on a hill, with the interior dimensions dictated by the size of the rock-cut caves, designed for deep worship and meditation. -
