The Vizhinjam Cave Temple is one of the smallest and oldest rock-cut temples in Southern India, dating back to the 8th century AD. It represents the early phase of rock-cut archite cture in Kerala and was built during the reign of the Ay dynasty, who were the local rulers of the time.
