Ramappa Temple

WARANGAL, Telangana, India
Also known as the Ramalingeswara Temple, this is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built in 1213 AD, it is the only temple in India named after its chief architect, Ramappa. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is world-renowned for its "floating bricks" and intricate black basalt carvings. The cr aftsmanship is so fine that some sculptures produce musical notes when tapped. The temple has survived earthquakes due to its innovative sandbox foundation. It stands as a testament to the golden age of the Kakatiya dynasty and attracts historians and pilgrims from across the globe.
