Detailed Overview : Ghati Subramanya Temple is one of the most significant pilgrimage centers in South India, dedicated to Lord Subramanya (Kartikeya). This ancient temple has a history spanning over 600 years and is deeply revered by devotees who come to seek blessings for various reasons. The tem ple is unique because it is a "Swayambu" kshetra, meaning the idol is self-manifested from the earth. The primary deity, Lord Subramanya, is carved on a single stone along with Lord Narasimha. What makes it fascinating is that the idol of Subramanya faces east, while the idol of Narasimha faces west on the same stone. To allow devotees to see both deities at once, a large mirror is placed at the back of the sanctum sanctorum. The temple is situated in a valley surrounded by green hills, providing a spiritual and serene environment. It is particularly famous for "Naga Dosha Nivarana" pujas, where people perform rituals to appease the serpent deities. Thousands of stone snake idols (Naga Pratishta) can be seen around the temple complex, offered by devotees over centuries. The atmosphere is filled with the scent of incense and the chanting of prayers. During festivals, the temple transforms into a vibrant hub of activity with traditional music and rituals. The temple also runs a free meal program (Annadana) for pilgrims, which is a testament to its inclusive and charitable spirit.
