The Thiru Venkatachalapathy Temple, located in Thiruvenkidom, is a significant spiritual landmark that shares a deep connection with the world-famous Tirumala Venkateswara Temple in Andhra Pradesh. The temple is dedicated to Lord Venkatachalapathy (an incarnation of Lord Vishnu) and is often referr ed to as 'Kerala Tirupati'. History states that the temple was established by a sage from Tirupati who brought the idol here more than a thousand years ago. The temple faced destruction during historical invasions but was beautifully restored in the 1970s. The deity is identical to the one in Tirupati, and the rituals followed here also mirror the traditions of the Andhra shrine. The temple complex is peaceful and less crowded than the main Guruvayur Sree Krishna Temple, allowing devotees to pray with great focus and serenity. Beside the main deity, there is a shrine for Goddess Padmavathy, making it a complete pilgrimage for followers of Lord Vishnu. The temple tank, known as the Pushkarani, is considered holy, and a dip here is believed to cleanse one of sins. The atmosphere is filled with the scent of incense and the chanting of Vedic hymns.
