Overview of Kopineshwar Temple (Kopineshwar Mandir): The Kopineshwar Temple is the oldest and most revered temple in the entire city of Thane, holding the significant status as the shrine of the city’s patron deity, Lord Shiva. Located prominently near the banks of the beautiful Masunda Lake (Tala o Pali) and close to the bustling Thane Railway Station, the temple is an architectural marvel and a spiritual powerhouse that traces its origins back to the Shilahara dynasty (around the 9th to 13th century AD).
