Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium
The Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, recently renamed as the Niranjan Shah Stadium, is a premier world-class cricket venue located on the outskirts of Rajkot. Spanning over 30 acres, this stadium was inaugurated in 2013 and has since become a fortress for the Saurashtra cricket team and a fr equent host for international Test, ODI, and T20 matches. It is renowned for its state-of-the-art facilities and a "flat" pitch that is often a paradise for batsmen. Legends like Cheteshwar Pujara and Ravindra Jadeja have played much of their domestic cricket here. The stadium is India’s first solar-powered cricket venue, reflecting a commitment to sustainability. It has a seating capacity of approximately 28,000 spectators. The stadium's design ensures an unobstructed view from every seat, thanks to its cantilevered roof structure. It served as a home ground for the IPL team Gujarat Lions and continues to be a favorite for BCCI events. The complex also includes indoor practice nets, a high-tech gym, and a secondary ground for local matches. Its location on the Rajkot-Jamnagar highway makes it a prominent landmark of modern Saurashtra.
