Shanti Sagara Lake
Overview: Shanti Sagara, also known as Sulekere, is a magnificent historical reservoir. It was built in the 12th Century by Princess Shantavva. The lake has a massive circumference of about 40 Kms. It is the second largest man-made lake in Asia. The water body is a vital source for irrigation and d rinking water for the region. Its name Sulekere translates to "Prostitute's Lake," rooted in a local legend about the princess's sacrifice. The lake is surrounded by hills and lush greenery, creating a peaceful atmosphere.
