Hodigere Shahji's Tomb
Historical Significance: This is the final resting place of Shahji Bhonsle, the father of the legendary Maratha emperor Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Shahji died in a hunting accident on January 23, 1664, after falling from his horse in the forests near Hodigere. Restoration: The tomb was first built by his son Vyankoji and later restored in the 20th century by Maratha associations and the government. It stands as a symbol of Maratha history in the heart of Karnataka.
