These rituals are conducted to guide the souls of the recently deceased through the Talon River Valley toward Athupopu. These events are deeply private but hold immense cultural importance. On rare occasions, village-wide gatherings occur to celebrate a successful harvest or a successful trekking expedition, where the community shares local brew and traditional songs under the moonlight.Best Photo Spots:

The most famous is the solitary standing stone at Athupopu, which is approximately 15 feet high and 10 feet wide. This stone is believed to bear the palm impressions of an ancient priest. The local villages nearby feature traditional bamboo huts built on raised platforms, designed with dimensions of 30x20 feet to accommodate large families. These huts are constructed without any nails, using traditional knotting techniques with cane ropes. The temporary bridges across the Talon River are masterpieces of local engineering, made of swinging bamboo and wire, stretching up to 100 feet across the turbulent waters. These structures demonstrate the incredible skill of the locals in utilizing natural materials to overcome the challenges of the harsh mountain terrain. The layout of the villages is usually scattered, following the natural contours of the slopes to avoid the path of seasonal mountain torrents and landslides. -
