Vijoynagar

Miao, Arunachal Pradesh, India
Remote Paradise: Vijoynagar is a secluded valley located at the extreme eastern tip of India, surrounded on three sides by Myanmar. For decades, this place remained one of the most isolated inhabited valleys in the country, accessible only by a grueling 5-day trek or irregular helicopter sorties. It consists of 16 villages inhabited largely by the Gorkha community, descendants of the Assam Rifles personnel who settled here in the 1960s. The valley is famous for its untouched natural beauty, crystal-clear rivers like the Noa-Dihing, and a lifestyle that remains largely disconnected from the modern world. In recent years, the completion of the Miao-Vijoynagar road has begun to open this "hidden land" to adventurous travelers. The atmosphere is one of pure serenity, where the silence is only broken by the sound of the wind and the river. It is a place for those who want to experience the true frontier of India. The local culture is a unique blend of Gorkha traditions and the influence of the nearby Lisu tribe.
