Tingkhai View Point

Jiribam, Manipur, India
Tingkhai View Point is a hidden treasure located on a high ridge in the Tamenglong-Noney border area, accessible from the Jiribam highway. This viewpoint offers some of the most expansive vistas of the Western Manipur hills, where one can see the layers of mountains fading into the blue horizon. Th e location is characterized by its vast open grasslands and occasional patches of pine trees. It is a place where the wind is constant and the air is remarkably pure. Unlike other crowded tourist spots, Tingkhai remains pristine and quiet, often visited only by seasoned trekkers and local villagers. The area is inhabited by the Kabui tribe, who have lived in harmony with these hills for centuries. From this height, one can spot small tribal hamlets perched on distant slopes, looking like tiny dots amidst the vast green expanse. The viewpoint is also a great spot for stargazing at night due to the zero light pollution. During the day, the shifting shadows of the clouds on the valley floor create a mesmerizing moving pattern. It is an excellent spot for those who want to experience the "Old Manipur" – a land of rugged beauty and silent peaks. The trek to the viewpoint involves passing through traditional orange orchards which the region is famous for.
