Lairok Maru Peak
Sub Place Details: The Lairok Maru Peak is a prominent high point that towers over the valley of the same name, offering a different perspective of the Ukhrul landscape. While the valley below is focused on agriculture and water, the peak is a realm of high-altitude winds, rugged cliffs, and expansi ve views that stretch toward the Myanmar border. The peak serves as a natural boundary and a spiritual landmark for the Tangkhul people, who often visit the summit for meditation or to observe the migration of birds. The vegetation at the top is markedly different from the valley, consisting of hardy shrubs, rhododendrons, and thick carpets of moss. On a clear day, the peak provides a 360-degree view of the entire Ukhrul district, including the famous Sirohi range and the distant blue mountains of neighboring Nagaland. The ascent to the peak is moderately difficult, making it accessible to most healthy hikers, yet it remains less crowded than other tourist spots, ensuring a peaceful experience for those who make the climb.
