Tungabhadra Dam
The Tungabhadra Dam, also known as Pampa Sagar, is a massive multipurpose dam built across the Tungabhadra river. It is a lifeline for the farmers of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, providing water for irrigation and generating hydroelectric power. The dam was completed in 1953 and is considered a ma sterpiece of post-independence engineering. Beyond its utility, it is a major tourist attraction due to its beautifully landscaped gardens, musical fountains, and a deer park.
