Weather and Best Time to Visit

Winter Season: The period from October to February is the most pleasant time to visit Tripura, with temperatures ranging between 10°C and 25°C. The weather is cool and dry, making it ideal for long hours of sightseeing, trekking in the hills, and attending festivals. This is also the peak season for the orange harvest in Jampui Hills and the grand Diwali celebrations in Udaipur. Most tourists prefer this season as the humidity is low and the skies are generally clear and blue.

Monsoon Season: From June to September, Tripura receives heavy rainfall which turns the entire landscape into a vibrant green paradise. While road travel can be challenging due to rain, it is the best time to see the waterfalls and rivers in their full glory. The Neermahal palace looks particularly stunning when the Rudrasagar Lake is full and the surrounding vegetation is lush. It is a great time for nature lovers who enjoy the misty atmosphere and the sound of falling rain in the hills.

Summer Season: The months of March to May can be quite warm and humid, with temperatures reaching up to 35°C during the peak afternoons. However, the early mornings and late evenings remain relatively comfortable for visiting temples and local parks. This season is famous for the Garia Puja and other tribal festivals that showcase the authentic cultural side of the state. Travelers can often find better deals on accommodation and experience fewer crowds at popular tourist destinations during these months.

Best Part of the Day: The early morning hours from 5:30 AM to 9:00 AM are the best for visiting wildlife sanctuaries and hill viewpoints. The air is fresh, and the likelihood of spotting birds and animals is highest during this quiet time of the day. For historical monuments and museums, the mid-morning slot after 10:00 AM is most suitable as they open for the public then. Evenings after 4:30 PM are perfect for lake boating and enjoying the vibrant local street food and markets in Agartala.
