The temple is dedicated to Goddess Chandi, an energetic and fierce manifestation of Goddess Durga, who is worshipped as the presiding deity here. Established by the la te monk Baba Bhairabananda Brahmachari in 1932, the site was once a dense forest inhabited by wild animals before becoming a peaceful sanctuary for devotees.
