How To Reach Chellarkovil Viewpoint
How to Reach
Same as Elephant Junction: Madurai International Airport (IXM) (approx. 140 KMS) and Cochin International Airport (COK) (approx. 150 KMS). From the airport, hire a taxi directly to Chellarkovil, a journey of approximately 4. 5 to 5 hours from Kochi.
By Train (Nearest Railway Stations):
Same as Elephant Junction: Kottayam (KTM) (approx. 110 KMS) or Theni (approx. 60 KMS). From Kottayam, hire a taxi or take a bus to Kumily, and then local transport to the viewpoint.
By Road (Bus and Private Vehicle): Take the National Highway that leads to Kumily (Thekkady). From Kumily town, the Chellarkovil village is connected by a narrow but well-maintained internal road that runs through spice plantations. The drive takes about 30 minutes from the town center.
By Local Transport: From Kumily, the best way to reach the viewpoint is by hiring an auto-rickshaw (tuk-tuk) or a local taxi. Auto-rickshaws are the most common and convenient option and can be hired for a return trip, with the driver waiting for your visit to the viewpoint. There are limited local buses that pass through the village, but they are infrequent.
