How To Reach Kheerganga Hot Springs

The name "Kheerganga" comes from the legend that the waters were once as white as 'Kheer' (rice pudding) due to the blessings of Lord Shiva. The trek to reach this place is about 10-12 KMs from Barshaini, passing through dense forests, massive waterfalls, and the roaring Parvati River. Once at the top, the highlight is the natural sulfur spring where trekkers can soak their tired muscles while looking at the snow-clad peaks. The water is naturally warm and is believed to have divine healing properties. The campsite at Kheerganga offers a panoramic view of the entire valley, making it feel like you are on top of the world. There is a small temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati near the springs, adding a spiritual dimension to the adventure. The landscape is a mix of lush green meadows and rugged mountain terrain. In recent years, permanent structures have been removed to preserve the environment, so visitors now mostly stay in tents. The air is thin and cold, but the warmth of the springs provides a surreal contrast. It is a place where nature, adventure, and spirituality converge in a breathtaking way. Most people spend at least one night here to witness the incredible sunrise and the star-studded night sky that is famously clear at this altitude.

Sub Place How to Reach:

By Air: Fly to Bhuntar, drive to Barshaini, then begin the 12 KM trek. The trek takes about 4 to 6 hours.

By Train: Reach Chandigarh, take a bus to Manikaran, then a taxi to Barshaini and proceed on foot for the trek.

By Road: Buses go up to Barshaini. From there, you must trek via Nakthan village or the forest route through Kalga.

By Local Transport: Mules are available at Barshaini to carry your luggage, but most of the journey must be covered on foot.
