By Air: The nearest major airport is Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (GAU) in Guwahati (120 KMS). Travelers take a pre-booked airport taxi, shared cab (often Tata Sumo), or the direct bus service (MTC/ASTC) which all drop off directly at the main bus stand located centrally in Police Bazar itself. The smaller Shillong Airport (UMROI) (30 KMS) is also an option, with local taxis available to take you directly to the center.
