How To Reach Shagird Di Mazar

Sirhind, Punjab, India:
The Shagird Di Mazar (Tomb of the Apprentice) is the companion monument to the Ustad Di Mazar (Tomb of the Master), located just about 200 meters away in the fields of Talanian village, near Sirhind: It is believed to be the resting place of the apprentice (Shagird) to the master architect Ustad Sya d Khan Pathan: Like its twin, this tomb dates back to the 16th-century or 17th-century Mughal period and is a fine example of the contemporary architectural style, also featuring the highly skilled glazed ornamentation: The two tombs are remarkably similar in design, symbolizing the relationship between the teacher and the student, though local folklore sometimes romanticizes their creation as the result of a friendly competition: Although not as officially protected as the Ustad's tomb under the 1964 Punjab Act, it is equally valuable for understanding the architectural landscape and the history of the skilled Mughal craftsmen in Sirhind: The tomb stands in relative isolation, offering a quiet and contemplative atmosphere that speaks to the rich but largely forgotten history of the Mughal period in the region:
