How To Reach Thana Chariali

By Air: The nearest airport to Tinsukia is the Dibrugarh Airport (Mohanbari Airport - DIB). It is located approximately 40-45 KMS from Tinsukia town center and, by extension, Thana Chariali.

Upon landing, you have several options: you can hire a prepaid taxi directly to Tinsukia (Thana Chariali) which will take about 1 to 1. 5 hours. Alternatively, shared taxis and state transport buses are also available outside the airport, but a taxi offers the most comfortable and direct route. The cost for a private taxi can range from Rs.1500 to Rs.2500.

By Train: Tinsukia is a major railway hub in the North East. The main station, New Tinsukia Junction (NTSK), is very well-connected to major cities across India, including Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, and Guwahati. The station is only about 2-3 KMS from Thana Chariali. Upon arrival at the station, you can easily hire an auto-rickshaw (Toto) or a cycle-rickshaw, which will take around 10-15 minutes to reach the junction. Tinsukia also has another station, Tinsukia Junction (TSK), which is even closer.

By Road: Tinsukia is accessible via the National Highway network, particularly NH-15 and NH-315. Regular state-run and private buses connect Tinsukia to major cities in Assam like Guwahati (approx. 490 KMS), Dibrugarh (approx. 50 KMS), and Jorhat (approx. 140 KMS). The journey from Guwahati by bus can take 10-12 hours. If driving your own vehicle, the road to Thana Chariali is well-marked as it is the central point of the town. The main bus terminal in Tinsukia is very close to the Chariali, making for an easy walk or a short Toto ride.

By Local Transport: Within Tinsukia town, the most popular local transport is the electric auto-rickshaw, locally known as a Toto or Vikram. These are readily available everywhere and are the most convenient way to reach Thana Chariali from any corner of the town or the railway station. Cycle-rickshaws are also available for shorter distances. Due to its centrality, most shared Totos pass directly through or terminate near Thana Chariali. Fares are generally fixed for routes but should be negotiated for private hires.
