By Train: The nearest major railway station is Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station (TVC), located approximately 16 KMs away. TVC is a major hub connecting Kerala to the rest of India. From the railway station, you can hire a taxi or an auto-rickshaw. Many local and express buses also run from the nearby Thampanoor Bus Terminal towards Kovalam and Vizhinjam.
By Road: Vizhinjam is very well-connected by road to Thiruvananthapuram (the capital city) and other towns in Kerala and neighboring Tamil Nadu. If driving from Thiruvananthapuram, you can take the main coastal road towards Kovalam. Once you reach Kovalam junction, follow the signs for Lighthouse Beach and then for Vizhinjam. The lighthouse is located on a small hill accessible by a paved path.
By Local Transport: Within Kovalam, the lighthouse is easily accessible. If staying near Lighthouse Beach, it is a short, scenic walk. From other beaches or closer parts of Vizhinjam, you can hire auto-rickshaws (tuktuks) for a quick ride. Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) buses also frequently ply the route between Thiruvananthapuram and Vizhinjam, offering a very economical way to travel.
