Jaigad Fort, often referred to as the "Fort of Victory," is a majestic 17th-century coastal fort that stands as a silent sentinel at the mouth of the Shastri River, guarding the Jaigad Bay. This impressive laterite stone fort, spread over an area of about 13 acres, was strategically built to overse e and protect the important Jaigad port. While its exact builders are debated, it played a significant role in the maritime history of the Konkan region, particularly under the Marathas and later the British. Though much of the fort is in ruins, its strong bastions, walls, and remnants of old structures offer a glimpse into its past grandeur and strategic importance. The fort's commanding position provides breathtaking panoramic views of the confluence of the river and the sea, the sprawling Arabian Sea, and the serene Jaigad village.
