Architecture:
Tibetan-Ladakhi Monastic Style: Likir Gompa is a sprawling complex built on a small hill overlooking the valley. The architecture reflects the traditional Tibetan monastic style with large assembly halls (Dukhangs), smaller temples (Gonkhangs), and monk residences.

The Maitreya Colossus: The most significant architectural addition is the 23-meter (75-foot) high gilded gold outdoor statue of Maitreya Buddha (the Future Buddha), which was completed in 1999 and dominates the complex. The statue sits facing the direction of Leh.
Interior Richness: The Dukhangs feature six rows of seats for the lamas and a central throne. The walls are adorned with impressive murals of wrathful protectors like Yamantaka and Mahakala, and statues of the three Buddhas (Past, Present, and Future).

How To Reach:
By Air: Fly to Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport (IXL) in Leh. Then, hire a taxi for the 52 KM journey on the Leh-Srinagar Highway.
By Train: Nearest major station is Jammu Tawi (JAT). Continue by road or air to Leh.
