Dimension: The central arch is approximately 15 meters high and 8 meters wide. It is built using massive blocks of local grey stone, held together by ancient mortar techniques. The top of the gate features battlements (merlons) and loopholes designed for archers and musketeers to defend the city. The heavy wooden doors, though mostly gone now, once had iron spikes to deter war elephants. The design includes small guard rooms on either side of the entrance where soldiers would stay. -
