Narayan Sarovar Sanctuary

Narayan Sarovar Sanctuary is a unique protected area in the arid Kutch region, known for its mix of xerophytic (drought-resistant) vegetation and a significant wildlife population. While often overshadowed by the larger Rann of Kutch, this sanctuary is vital for its ecological significance and its traditional association with the holy Narayan Sarovar Lake, one of the five sacred lakes of Hinduism. The sanctuary was established primarily to protect the Chinkara (Indian Gazelle), its flagship species, but it also supports a variety of other animals and birds.
