Original Babri Masjid
The Original Babri Masjid, also known as the Kabuli Bagh Mosque, is a monumental structure built by the first Mughal Emperor, Babur, to commemorate his victory over Ibrahim Lodi in 1526. Named after his favorite wife, Kabuli Begum, this mosque is a significant archaeological site as it represents t he very beginning of Mughal architecture in the Indian subcontinent. It is often overshadowed by the mosque in Ayodhya, but historians consider this the "true" first mosque of the dynasty. The mosque is situated within a large walled enclosure known as Kabuli Bagh, which once featured lush gardens and flowing water channels in the classic Persian "Charbagh" style. Although the gardens have faded over time, the mosque remains an imposing structure with its massive domes and intricate stone carvings. It serves as a stark reminder of the shift in power that occurred on the plains of Panipat, marking the end of the Sultanate era and the dawn of the Mughal Empire. :
