The Gandhi Mandap is a prominent memorial dedicated to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. It is majestically situated on the crest of Sarania Hill, offering one of the most magnificent vantage points in Guwahati. The memorial was inaugurated in 1970 by Indira Gandhi and the former Chief Minis ter of Assam, Bishnuram Medhi. The site is a tribute to Gandhi's life, philosophy, and his visits to Assam (including his first visit in 1921 and last in 1946). The complex features a museum, which houses a collection of photographs, letters, and artifacts related to Gandhi's life and the Indian independence movement.
