Tousem Circle is a ruggedly beautiful administrative and cultural hub located in the westernmost part of the Tamenglong district. This sub-division is predominantly inhabited by the Zeliangrong Naga tribe, specifically the Zeme and Liangmai communities, who have preserved their ancestral traditions for centuries. The landscape is characterized by steep mountain ranges, deep river valleys like the Barak and Makru, and a canopy of dense tropical forests. Because of its extreme remote location near the Nagaland and Assam borders, Tousem remains one of the least explored regions in Northeast India, offering a raw and authentic glimpse into tribal life.
