Dimensions and Structure: The palace once featured a sprawling courtyard (Aangan) which served as the central hub for family gatherings. The walls are remarkably thick, designed to keep the interiors cool during the harsh summers of June. The facade of the palace is adorned with arched gateways and decorative pillars that reflect the wealth of the Lakshmipur estate. Though parts of the roof have collapsed, the remaining columns show intricate carvings. The total area of the palace complex spans several acres, including gardens and outhouses for staff.
Defensive Features: As the seat of a local ruler, the palace was built with security in mind, featuring high perimeter walls and strategic lookout points. The use of large wooden doors with iron studs is a common feature seen in the ruins. -
