Echoes of Maratha Valour: Sajja Kothi is a magnificent three-storied structure located within the massive Panhala Fort. Built in 1500 CE by Ibrahim Adil Shah, it originally served as a viewing pavilion and a strategic watchtower. The structure gained immense historical significance during the Marath a period when Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj used it for secret meetings. It is also the place where his son, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, was confined for a period. The architecture is a blend of Bijapuri and Maratha styles, featuring intricate stone carvings and arched balconies. Sitting at a high altitude, it offers a bird's-eye view of the surrounding valleys and the war-torn paths of the past. The building is made of solid basalt stone, which has withstood the test of time and weather. Today, it stands as a silent witness to the bravery and strategic brilliance of the Maratha Empire. Walking through its corridors, one can almost feel the weight of history and the intensity of the battles fought nearby. It is one of the most visited spots within the fort, attracting historians and tourists alike. The cool breeze flowing through the "Sajja" (balcony) makes it a pleasant spot even during the afternoon.
