Serlui B Dam
Serlui B Dam is a magnificent earth-fill and gravity dam built across the Serlui River in the northern part of Mizoram. This dam is not only a vital source of hydroelectric power, with a capacity of 12 MW, but has also evolved into one of the state's most popular tourist destinations. Construction o f the dam began in 2003 and was completed in 2009 by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited. The dam has created a massive, scenic reservoir that stretches for about 53 kilometers, winding through thick forests and emerald hills. This vast body of water has become a thriving center for pisciculture, with lakhs of fish released into the reservoir, providing a livelihood for many local families and generating significant revenue for the state. For tourists, the draw is the sheer beauty of the vast blue water set against the backdrop of dense tropical vegetation. The state government has recognized its potential and established a beautiful tourist lodge at the site, which was inaugurated in 2018.
