Surjabasa Mini Waterfall

Chaibasa, Jharkhand, India
The Surjabasa Mini Waterfall is a charming natural cascade located in the Dalki area, very close to the Damadiri temple. While it may not have the height of major falls like Hirni, its beauty lies in its accessibility and the gentle flow of water over a series of rocky steps. The waterfall is fed b y a local stream that gains strength during the monsoon months. It is surrounded by a dense patch of forest, giving it a very "hidden" and private feel. The sound of the water falling into the shallow pool below is incredibly soothing and can be heard from a distance. Local youths often visit this spot for a refreshing dip in the natural pool during the hot summer months. The rocks around the waterfall are naturally smoothed by years of water flow, creating perfect spots to sit and soak your feet. It is an uncommercialized spot, meaning you get a raw and authentic experience of the Jharkhand wilderness without the crowds of major tourist hubs.

Things To Do

  • ...
Splashing in Nature: The most popular activity is taking a bath in the cool, clear water of the natural pool. Hiking along the stream bed is a great way to explore the local flora and fauna. Many visitors bring their cameras to capture "long exposure" shots of the cascading water. It is a quiet spot for nature journaling or reading a book while listening to the water. Some people enjoy "rock hopping" along the stream, which is both fun and a good workout. Bird watchers can find several kingfishers and wagtails that frequent the stream. Having a small snack while sitting on the dry rocks (remembering to take your trash back) is a lovely experience. The area is also great for macro photography, focusing on the moss and tiny insects near the water. For the more adventurous, exploring the thicket around the falls can reveal interesting rock formations. Fina...
