The settlement is famous for two primary reasons: first, as a symbol of the resilience and cultural preservation of the Tibetan refugee community since its establishment in 1975, and second, for its renowned Carpet Weaving Center. The center produces superior-quality, hand-woven Tibetan carpets using materials sourced from places like New Zealand and Haryana, with a significant portion being exported internationally. The settlement's fame attracts tourists, cultural scholars, and buyers interested in authentic Tibetan culture, art, and high-quality craftsmanship, providing a distinct cultural experience unique to the Miao area of Arunachal Pradesh.
