Tippu's Drop
Tippu's Drop is a famous viewpoint located on the summit of the Nandi Hills fortress. It is a steep cliff situated at a height of about 600 meters (approx 2000 feet) above the sea level. Historically, this site has a dark and intriguing past as it was used by Tipu Sultan to execute prisoners by pus hing them off the edge. Today, it serves as a major tourist attraction offering one of the most breathtaking views of the surrounding plains and hill ranges. The area is protected by a strong iron fence to ensure the safety of visitors while they admire the sheer drop. On a clear day, one can see the winding roads and small villages far below. The cool breeze and the mist often rolling in make it a surreal experience. The site is part of the larger Nandi Hills complex, which was a strategic summer retreat for Tipu Sultan. Nearby, one can find the ruins of his summer palace and the Yoga Nandeeshwara temple.
