Travel Tips Of Kodanda Rama Temple

Hampi, Karnataka, India:
Historical Context::The Kodanda Rama Temple is dedicated to Lord Rama and holds immense religious significance, believed to be the spot where Lord Rama crowned Sugriva as the King of Kishkindha (the mythical forest in the Ramayana, identified with the Hampi region) after defeating Vali. The name Kod anda Rama literally means "Crowned Rama." The temple's inner sanctum houses magnificent, tall idols of Lord Rama, his consort Sita, and his brother Lakshmana, along with Sugriva, all carved out of a single natural boulder. It stands right on the bank of the sacred Tungabhadra river, overlooking the holy bathing ghat of Chakrathirtha. This is one of the few places in Hampi that is an actively functional temple today.Unique Feature::Uniquely, the temple features a large statue of Sugriva bowing to Lord Rama, a depiction that confirms the site's connection to the Ramayana and the coronation legend, in contrast to most Rama temples which feature Hanuman.:

Tourism Tips

Health & Safety::As a place of worship, dress conservatively (cover shoulders and knees). Remove shoes before entering the temple complex. Be aware of the river current, especially at Chakrathirtha; it can be dangerous.Packing::Bring a small donation for the temple priests. Carry your own drinking water. If taking a coracle ride, negotiate the price beforehand.River Safety::Never attempt to swim in the Tungabhadra river, as the currents are strong and unpredictable. Use only the authorized coracle operators.Connectivity::Mobile network coverage is usually strong here, but local shops may not accept digital payments.:
