Picturesque Monsoon Escape: Palasdari Waterfall, also sometimes called Palusa Waterfall, is a highly scenic and easily accessible waterfall located near Palasdari village, just outside Karjat. Like most waterfalls in the Western Ghats, its true beauty is unleashed during the torrential monsoon seaso n when water gushes down a rocky cliff face, creating a misty, refreshing spectacle. It is particularly popular with trekking groups and day-trippers from Mumbai and Pune due to its base being close to the Palasdari Railway Station (on the Karjat-Khopoli section of the Central Railway line), making it exceptionally convenient to reach by local train. The area is also home to the Palasdari Dam, built by the Indian Railways, adding to the picturesque, water-rich environment and establishing it as a prime natural picnic and bathing spot.

Tourism Tips

Health & safety: Never attempt to climb the rock face. The area is highly slippery; wear rubber-soled sandals or water-resistant trekking shoes. Be mindful of the railway tracks.

Packing: Carry a waterproof bag for electronics, a change of clothes, and a plastic bag to carry back all waste. Food and water stalls are available, but carrying your own is recommended.

Accommodation: Resorts are available in Karjat and Khopoli; basic local homestays may be available in Palasdari village.

Other Tips: Check the local train schedule in advance. Do not venture near the dam's overflow or deep water areas. The best experience is on a weekday to avoid the immense weekend crowd.
