It is believed to be the sacred location where the legendary Vedic sage, Maharishi Parashar—grandfather of the autho r of the Mahabharata, Ved Vyasa—performed his rigorous penance and meditation (tapo bhumi). A key feature is the sacred pond, Braham Kund, where devotees believe a holy dip can cleanse one of sins.
