Travel Tips Of Sone
Nirmal, Telangana, India
General Overview: Sone Village, traditionally known as Suvarnapuri, is a place of immense historical and religious significance in Nirmal. Located on the banks of the Godavari river, it is considered a sacred "Saligrama Kshetra." The village is steeped in mythology, with locals believing that Lord R ama stayed here during his exile. It is also the birthplace of the great saint Sonne Koneriralayalu. The river at this point is referred to as "Vrudha Ganga," signifying its ancient status. Sone Village serves as a spiritual gateway for pilgrims who come to perform various Vedic rituals and holy dips. The village is unique for its community of Madhwa devotees who have preserved ancient traditions for centuries. Historically, the village was a center for Vedic learning and religious congregations like the Godavari Pushkaras. The landscape is dotted with several ancient temples, each with its own story. The presence of the Uttaradi Math adds to its scholarly reputation. During festival seasons, the village transforms into a vibrant hub of activity and devotion. The proximity to the National Highway 44 makes it easily accessible for travelers heading toward Nagpur or Hyderabad. The village atmosphere is typical of rural Telangana, characterized by hospitality and a slow-paced lifestyle. It is a place where history, religion, and nature converge seamlessly. The golden history of the village is reflected in its name Suvarnapuri, which translates to "The City of Gold." It remains a vital cultural pillar of the Nirmal district.
