How To Reach Ambrai Ghat
How to Reach
Maharana Pratap Airport (UDR): The nearest airport is Maharana Pratap Airport (also known as Dabok Airport), located approximately 24 kilometers from Ambrai Ghat. This airport connects Udaipur to all major cities in India like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Jaipur. Upon arrival, you can hire a prepaid taxi, a private cab (Ola/Uber), or a shared shuttle service directly to the Old City area, near Chandpole or Ambrai Ghat. The taxi ride usually takes about 45 minutes to an hour, depending on traffic. Due to the restricted access in the Old City, the vehicle may drop you off at a nearby point, and you may need to walk the final few hundred meters.
By Train:
Udaipur City Railway Station (UDZ): The main railway station is
Udaipur City Railway Station (UDZ), which is approximately 4. 5 kilometers from Ambrai Ghat. This station is well-connected to various parts of India with express and local trains. From the railway station, you can easily hire an auto-rickshaw or a taxi. The short journey will take around 15-20 minutes. Be sure to negotiate the auto-rickshaw fare before starting the trip, or opt for a ride-sharing service for a fixed price.
By Road:
Well-Connected National Highways: Udaipur is excellently connected by road via National Highways, notably NH48 (connecting to Ahmedabad and Delhi) and NH58 (connecting to Jaipur). Regular public buses (Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation - RSRTC) and private luxury buses ply between Udaipur and other major cities like Jaipur (approx. 6-8 hours), Ahmedabad (approx. 5-6 hours), and Jodhpur (approx. 4-5 hours). If traveling by car, you will need to park outside the immediate Old City zone near Chandpole or Hathipole, as the narrow lanes leading to the ghat are often restricted or too congested for large vehicles.
By Local Transport:
Auto-Rickshaws and Walking: Once you are in the city center, the best way to reach Ambrai Ghat is by taking an auto-rickshaw or by walking. The ghat is located within the dense network of the Old City.
- Auto-rickshaws: They are the most convenient way to navigate the narrow city roads and can drop you very close to the ghat. Fares are reasonable, but always confirm the price beforehand.
- Walking: If you are staying within the Old City (Lake Pichola or Gangaur Ghat area), walking is highly recommended. It allows you to explore the charming lanes, local shops, and ancient architecture up close. The walk from the City Palace area is short and highly scenic.
