How to Reach

By Air: The nearest major airport is Gwalior Airport (GWL), approximately 120 KMS away. From the airport, hire a taxi to Shivpuri city. Once in the city, hire a local cab to the lake. Due to the slightly remote location, arrange a round-trip or hire a cab that knows the area well. The drive from Gwalior takes about 3 hours.

By Train: The nearest major railway junction is Jhansi (JHS), about 95 KMS away. From Jhansi, take a bus or shared cab to Shivpuri. The local Shivpuri Railway Station (SVPI) has limited connectivity. From Shivpuri city, the lake is about 15 KMS away and requires private or hired transport for the last leg of the journey.

By Road: Chandphata Lake is located about 15 KMS from the Shivpuri city center, typically accessed via a motorable road that eventually turns into a smaller, unpaved track for the final approach. Follow the road leading towards the interior side of the Madhav National Park periphery. The area is generally known to local taxi and auto-rickshaw drivers. The final kilometer may require a short walk, especially during the monsoon season.

By Local Transport: Hiring a private taxi or a local auto-rickshaw for a round trip with a waiting charge is the most practical option from Shivpuri city. Due to its remote nature, negotiating a full return journey fare is essential, as finding a return vehicle at the lake itself can be impossible. The ride should take about 30-45 minutes from the city center.
