By Air:
Nearest Airports: Gour does not have an operating airport. The nearest major functional airport is Bagdogra Airport (IXB) in Siliguri, located approximately 230 {KMS} to the north. Bagdogra has excellent domestic connectivity with major Indian cities like Kolkata, Delhi, and Mumbai. From Bagdogra, one must hire a pre-paid taxi or take a bus to Malda City, a drive of about 5 to 6 hours. The other option is Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport (CCU) in Kolkata, approximately 330 {KMS} south, from where you can take an overnight train or bus to Malda Town.
By Train:
The Rail Hub: The most convenient way to reach the area is by train, getting off at Malda Town Railway Station (MLDT). This station is a major junction on the Eastern Railway network and is extremely well-connected. Several daily express trains, including the Gour Express and the Teesta Torsha Express, connect it directly to Kolkata (Sealdah or Howrah stations). Regular trains also ply from Delhi, Mumbai, and other major cities in North and South India. The station is only about 10 to 12 {KMS} from the main Gour ruins complex, making onward local travel simple.
By Road:
National Highway Connectivity: Malda City is located directly on National Highway 12 (NH 12), which connects Kolkata to North Bengal. Regular government and private buses (NBSTC, SBSTC) run frequently from the Esplanade depot in Kolkata to the Gour Kanya Bus Terminus in Malda, an overnight journey of about 7 to 8 hours. Taxis and private cabs can also be hired for a more comfortable trip. The road condition is generally manageable, but traffic can be heavy near urban centers.
