By Air: The nearest major airport is Maharana Pratap Airport (UDR) in Udaipur, approximately 90 KMs away from Chittorgarh. Udaipur has excellent domestic connectivity to major Indian cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, and Ahmedabad. From the airport, one can hire a pre-paid taxi or a private cab to reach Chittorgarh. The drive takes about 2 to 2. 5 hours.
By Train: Chittorgarh Junction (COR) is a major railway station and a significant junction on the Western Railway Zone. It is well-connected by numerous trains, including superfast and express services, to prominent cities across India, such as Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, and Kolkata. The station is approximately 10 KMs from the base of the fort.
By Road: Chittorgarh is accessible via a robust network of state and national highways. National Highway 27 and National Highway 48 pass near the city. Regular bus services (Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation - RSRTC) and private operators run between Chittorgarh and nearby cities like Udaipur (approx. 115 KMs), Jaipur (approx. 300 KMs), and Ajmer (approx. 180 KMs).
By Local Transport (from the city to the fort): From Chittorgarh city (railway station or bus stand), you can hire an auto-rickshaw or a taxi to the main gate of the fort. To navigate the fort complex itself, which is massive (700 acres), you have a few options:
Hired Taxi/Auto: You can hire a local taxi or auto-rickshaw for a full fort tour, which will take you to all the main attractions, including the palaces.
Personal Vehicle: Visitors can drive their own two or four-wheelers up the winding road inside the fort.
Walking: Exploring the fort on foot is possible, but the distances are vast, making a hired vehicle or your own transport highly recommended to cover all the sites like Jaimal and Patta Palaces efficiently. (Approximately ) ---
