It was initially acquired and renovated by the second Nizam, Asaf Jah II, and later passed down. By Air (From Rajiv Gandhi International Airport - RGIA): The Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) (HYD) is located about 30-35 KMS from Purani Haveli (Nizam's Museum). The most practical transport option is a prepaid or app-based taxi (Ola or Uber), which takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour. Public buses are available but will be slower and require a short connecting ride. By Train (From Hyderabad/Nampally and Kacheguda Stations): The nearest major railway station is the Hyderabad Deccan (Nampally) Station, approximately 5 KMS away, and the Kacheguda Railway Station is also close, about 5-6 KMS away. Secunderabad Junction is further, about 10 KMS away. From any of these stations, the easiest way to reach the haveli is by auto-rickshaw or an app-based taxi. The site is deep inside the old city area, which means the last few kilometers involve navigating narrow, busy lanes.

By Road (Local Bus, Auto, Taxi): Purani Haveli is located in the bustling old city area, near the Princess Durru Shehvar Hospital. It is well-connected by TSRTC city buses, with bus stops nearby. However, due to the heavy traffic and narrow roads of the old city, taking an auto-rickshaw or an app-based taxi to the immediate vicinity and then walking a short distance is often the best approach. Parking is limited.

By Local Transport (Metro and Auto): The nearest Metro station is Malakpet Metro Station (Green Line) or Osmania Medical College Metro Station (Red Line), both requiring a subsequent auto-rickshaw ride of about 3-4 KMS through the congested old city streets to reach the haveli. Be prepared for a walk from the main road due to the narrow lanes.
