How To Reach Sirohi National Park

Sirohi National Park, also known as Shirui National Park, was established in 1982 and covers an area of about 41 square kilometers. It is world-renowned for being the only natural habitat of the Shirui Lily (Lilium mackliniae), a rare and delicate flower that cannot be transplanted anywhere else in the world. The park encompasses the majestic Shirui Kashong Peak, which stands at 2,835 meters. The biodiversity here is exceptionally rich, featuring various species of tragopans, tigers, leopards, and several rare birds like the Blyth's Tragopan. The landscape transitions from dense tropical forests at the base to open sub-alpine meadows at the summit. During the blooming season, the hills are covered in a soft purple-pink hue, attracting botanists and nature lovers from across the globe. The park is not just a biological treasure but also a sacred site for the Tangkhul Naga tribe, who believe the peak is protected by local spirits. The trek to the top is well-maintained with steps in some sections, offering a mix of challenge and accessibility for visitors.

How to Reach

By Air: Fly to Imphal (90 KM away) and take a shared Sumo or private taxi to Ukhrul.

By Train: Reach via Dimapur (210 KM) and take the scenic mountain road journey through Kohima.

By Road: A 45-minute drive from Ukhrul town center leads directly to the park gates in Shirui Village.

By Local Transport: Public buses run between Ukhrul and Shirui Village every morning and afternoon.
