Steps: From PNQ, hire a pre-paid or app-based taxi. The route involves driving toward the Sinhagad Road, past Khadakwasla Dam, and continuing towards Velhe village. The journey takes approximately 2. 5 to 3 hours.
By Train: The nearest major railway station is Pune Junction (PUNE), about 55 KMS away.
Steps: From Pune Junction, the most economical way is to take an auto-rickshaw or local bus to the Swargate Bus Terminal. From Swargate, take a State Transport (MSRTC) bus specifically bound for Velhe village. Velhe is the final stop and the fort's base. These buses have a limited frequency, so checking the schedule in advance is crucial.
By Road: Torna is about 50 KMS from Pune.
Private/Self-Drive: This is the most convenient option, taking about 1. 5 to 2 hours. The route goes via Khadakwasla Dam and the village of Pabe. The roads are generally good up to Velhe, but the last few kilometers can be rough. Parking is available at the base village for a nominal fee.
Bus/Local Transport: State Transport (MSRTC) buses from Pune's Swargate Bus Terminal to Velhe village are the most reliable form of public transport. The journey is direct and ends at the fort's base. The frequency of buses can be low (e. g. , three to four times a day).
By Local Transport: Once at Velhe village, the journey is on foot, as the village itself is the base. Local guides are available for hire here. There is no local public transport from Velhe up the mountain; it is a dedicated trek.
