How To Reach Vijay Stambh
How to Reach
By Air (Nearest Airport): The nearest major airport is Maharana Pratap Airport (UDR), located in Dabok, near Udaipur, which is approximately 90-100 KMs from Chittorgarh. The airport is well-connected to major Indian cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Jaipur.
From Udaipur airport, visitors can hire a prepaid taxi or take a bus to Chittorgarh, which is a journey of about 2 to 2. 5 hours. A less convenient option is Jaipur International Airport (JAI), which is much farther (around 325 KMs).
By Train (Nearest Railway Station): Chittorgarh Junction (COR) is the main railway station and is very well-connected, as it's a major junction on the Western Railways network. It has direct train services to major cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Udaipur, and Ahmedabad. The station is approximately 5-6 KMs from the fort's base. This is often the most convenient and recommended way to reach the city.
By Road (Bus and Private Vehicle): Chittorgarh is excellently connected by National Highways (NH-48 and others) to all major cities in Rajasthan and nearby states.
From Udaipur: Approximately 120 KMs (2. 5-3 hours). Regular state-run and private buses (RSRTC) and taxis are available.
From Jaipur: Approximately 320 KMs (5-6 hours).
From Ahmedabad: Approximately 370 KMs (7-8 hours). State government buses and luxury private coaches frequently operate on these routes. For a private vehicle, the drive is smooth, and there is ample parking at the base and within the fort complex near the major sites like the Vijay Stambh.
By Local Transport (Within Chittorgarh): To reach the Vijay Stambh inside the fort, visitors must first travel from Chittorgarh City to the main fort gate (Ram Pol). Auto-rickshaws and taxis are readily available near the railway station and bus stand for the 15-20 minute drive to the fort's base. The fort itself is huge (7 KMs long), and the sites like the Vijay Stambh are spread out. You can either hire a local auto-rickshaw or a private taxi for the entire fort tour, who will act as a guide-cum-driver. Alternatively, you can take your private car/rental inside the fort road for a nominal fee. Walking the entire fort is extremely strenuous and not recommended unless focusing only on a small section.
