Details: The Koderma Wildlife Sanctuary is a sprawling natural haven established in 1985, covering an area of about 150.62 square kilometres. This sanctuary is a vital part of the Chhotanagpur Plateau ecosystem, characterized by its dry deciduous forests and hilly terrain. The landscape is criss-cro ssed by several rivers like the Barakar, Sakri, and Dhadhar, which provide water to the diverse wildlife living here. Visitors can expect to see a wide variety of animals, including Leopards, Sloth Bears, Sambhar, and Barking Deer. The sanctuary is also a paradise for birdwatchers, with many migratory and resident species visible throughout the year. The vegetation is dominated by Sal, Asan, and Mahua trees, creating a thick green canopy that is beautiful during the monsoons and winters. It serves as a crucial conservation zone for the regional biodiversity of Jharkhand.
