Badam Fort is a historical site and a poignant reminder of the once-powerful Ramgarh Raj dynasty, which held sway over a significant part of the Chota Nagpur Plateau. The current structure's ruins were primarily commissioned by Raja Hemant Singh, the sixth ruler of the Ramgarh family, and completed around 1642 AD. The fort served as the capital of the dynasty for a crucial period, shifting from Sisai and Urda before eventually moving to Ramgarh town in 1670 AD. The selection of the Badam site was strategic, situated on an elevated plateau with the Badami River flowing nearby, providing a natural defense. The fort complex, now largely in ruins, showcases the architectural style prevalent during the Mughal era, adopted by the regional rulers.
