Rajendra Setu

Begusarai, Bihar, India
Engineering Milestone: Rajendra Setu was the first bridge to link north and south Bihar. It was inaugurated in 1959 by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. The bridge is named after India's first President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad. It carries both a railway track and a roadway. For decades, it was the only lifeline across the Ganges in this region. The design was guided by the legendary M. Visvesvaraya. It stands as a testament to the early industrial spirit of India. Simaria Connection: The bridge is located at the holy Simaria Ghat. This adds a layer of spiritual importance to the structural marvel. Connectivity: It connects the districts of Begusarai and Patna. It has facilitated the movement of goods and people for over 60 years.
